Good Jejujuu

This weekend was packed with coastal views, hallabong juice, abalone, and lava stone. Where did I go?

of course!

It was the chillest. As you can see from these dolls in my Seogwipo hotel.

And this wonderfully delightful band at a Cutlassfish Festival that was happening the same weekend.

Aside from eating free cutlassfish and watching old women dance, we took in some nature and breathed in some of the fresh island air.

Mama mia, Jeju is beautiful. But it wasn’t just the natural beauty. One thing that stands out to me living in Korea is Pinterest-like interiors. After walking the shore of the beach, we stumbled upon one of the hippest bars I’ve ever seen in my life.

Complete with outdoor seating (with hammocks), disco balls, neon, a brunch menu, a pizzeria, foreign DJs, a house dog, and macrame. This bar/restaurant/pizzeria/dart hall had an insane view of the ocean and was aptly named, The Cliff. Lucky for us, we happened upon it for its grand opening.

So what do you do when you want to hate something for being so cool, but so very much enjoy it?

Don't hate, appreciate.

After Seogwipo, we went north and came across Woljeongri Beach. I made a friend.

He was oddly drinking a container of himself which was a little unsettling, but we talked through it and I came around.

We're engaged.

After having a disappointing first taste of abalone at the Cutlassfish Festival, we found a restaurant in Woljeongri that served abalone risotto. The restaurant was beautiful and the food was great. Look at those shrimps! Big, black eyes that will look straight into your soul!

Last stop, Jeju City. These little men were my favorite thing I ate all weekend at Dongmun Traditional Market despite only having one bite of my friend's because I was too full for my own. These fried little babies had cream cheese inside of them and reminded me of home. *sigh*

So all in all, it was exactly the wonderful little vacation oasis I wanted it to be and I hope to go back.

So long, Jeju. Stay cool, baby. ✌️
